HALL, HALSEY, MCDONALD posted by Cynthia Adams on Monday, September 7, 1998

Looking for information about the HALSEY and MCDONALD families of Preble County.

James and Margaret HALSEY and their daughter Rhoda HALSEY were born in North Carolina, according to the 1880 Preble County census. In 1880, James was an 88-year-old retired farmer, Margaret was 81, and Rhoda was a 48-year-old widow living with her parents (she died the following year of consumption).

Rhoda HALSEY married John MCDONALD on March 6, 1856. They had several children, including Margaret (or Margret), Abner, William, and John MCDONALD. Rhoda died in 1881, and her husband John died around 1867.

Their son Abner MCDONALD was born in 1861. He married Anna HALL on July 26, 1885. They were the parents of Otto (Stanley), Orva Lee, Claude Forrest, and Grace MCDONALD. Claude Forrest MCDONALD was my mother's father.

I would like to trace the HALSEY family backwards from James and Margaret, and the MCDONALD family backwards from John (Rhoda's husband). I am also looking for other descendants of these families. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
